Brute Force attacks haven’t been effective for decades. Not since they implemented delays between attempts and times outs/lock outs for too many failed attempts.

It’s niche as hell, but Syncplay lets you sync up the playback of video files through VLC or MPV player as long as everyone has the same video file stored locally. Better quality then steaming and works on low bandwidth connections.

It’s an upgrade over Skype, but a downgrade over forums and irc. I setup a discord for some tech troubled friends because I didn’t think they could handle anything else and even that was trying for some of them.

It’s just an example, but you can pull an old car battery from the junkyard and they have better temperature extremes. NiMH from a wrecked hybrid is also a good option for durability.

I was thinking more along the lines of battery powered operations. I can stick a Pi, a car battery, a solar panel into a weather proof box and set it in the woods if I needed to.
