I no longer use Nextcloud. I use rclone with the smb remote for my NAS.

pCloud has a Linux client. Both GUI and CLI. But I personally use rclone for all cloud services. It is often even more reliable and offers better performance than official clients. It also allows managing multiple cloud services from the same place. It supports client-side encryption as well.

The software is pretty good in my experience. The biggest problem is the hardware was already old when the Pinephone launched 6 years ago. There is only so much optimization that can be done on decade old mobile hardware.

What about it? The Pinephone is still available.

I have had positive experiences with both Radicale and Baikal. I am not sure about the Home Assistant integration, but they both use CalDAV, so I would be surprised if there wasn’t a way of connecting them. iOS has native support for CalDAV, but Android needs the davx5 app (free on F-Droid).

Yes, I have always used a reverse proxy which seems to eliminate the need for multiple IP addresses. It seems like having multiple IP addresses just creates additional cost and complexity, but I have seen many VPS providers offer multiple IP addresses, so I was curious if there was a use case that I was not aware of.

Ladybird is still very early in development and is not even targeting an alpha release until 2026. There are no binaries currently available, so the only way to even test what currently exists is to compile the source code. I am excited to see a new competitor, but I also do not have high hopes given how difficult it is to meet all of the web standards. Given the increasing number of websites that have problems or limitations with Firefox, I do not foresee Ladybird ever getting to the point where it could be reliably used by average people. I would love to eventually be proven wrong about this though.

Servo also has nothing to do with Mozilla anymore. It has been a part of the Linux Foundation since Mozilla laid off all of the developers in 2020.

Despite not being easy to find, most news sites still have RSS feeds. They are great for just getting the news from sources I trust instead of big tech algorithm recommend blogspam. It is also possible to get RSS feeds from subreddits and Mastodon.

I use Radicale for my calendars, reminders, and contacts precisely because of how minimal it is. It has been very reliable for me and is very easy to back up and restore since it is just files.

Photopea is a great web-based photo editor, but it is not FOSS.

No, KDE does not have their own virtualization gui. Boxes can still be used on KDE as well though. If you really want nothing to do with Gnome, then virt-manager will be your best option.

If you are using Linux, it does not get any simpler than Gnome Boxes. If you need more options, virt-manager is still fairly easy to use.

I use Downpour for Audiobooks. It is similar to Audible where audiobooks can be purchased individually, or there is a subscription that provides credits to purchase audiobooks. The audiobooks are drm-free and can be downloaded. I have not found a way to automate the download and transfer to my Audiobookshelf server, but I don’t mind doing it manually considering I average around two or three audiobooks a month.

Doku still has the typical wiki style version control. It uses other text files to keep a changelog without cluttering the markdown file.
