This totally is accidental and coincidental and has nothing to do with Google being a dick, as per usual.
So sad to see google now being the same shit as Microsoft
The point is hoping there are enough dumb people out there willing to pay for software that is freely available after you lie some to their face.
See also anything that Microsoft produces, they are a billion dollar company with that shit somehow.
So when running a Linux desktop, what does one do to avoid these search engines? I use DuckDuckGo for the moment, but if love some alternatve that isnopen source too, self hosted if need be, and federated would be awesome
Also, move ssh to a different, higher port. Since ssh isn’t exactly for noobs, changing the port is easy enough to work with and that alone already reduces port scans and what not
Git has nothing to do with Microsoft and I think most tech people (th only people using git) know that.
I have seen and used alternative tools. Git has issues, just like all alternatives. Its just that git is vastly superior to all alternatives, and it’s open source.
If (once) Microsoft gets abusive with GitHub, people will leave for alternatives, such is the life of open source
Just because some (really dumb) people think git is from Microsoft doesn’t mean we should stop using it.
With that logic we should stop using half the protocol and utilities out there. Remember that open source can be used by anyone, so that includes Microsoft.
Just setup your own open source gitlab or something and use that. Don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater
You seem to not understand that github is not git, it uses git, period.
Any idea how many UX designers help with open source? KDE looks way better than windows (IMHO) and having used it for 20 years I just seriously wonder why people pay hundreds of dollars for windows crap while they can have something better for free
In my experience, FOSS apps are not the alternative, they are what any app should be. They look, feel and work better than any paid app, yet people continue to call them “alternatives”
Is this “breezy weather” in the google play store? It looks similar but that’s an app with 100M users, doesn’t sound Ned…
So it doesn’t feel better than the typical bloated half working must pay now and “sacrifice your first born” app?
Bipolar is 1024 based?
Jokes aside, you’re talking nonsense. 1024 based?
Try KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB, those are metric, KB is not
Most of the times -for me anyway- not only are the tools free (as in freedom) and free (as in beer) but also simply vastly superior to paid alternatives. I never get why people pay and then put up with shit, or use some SaaS platform where they are the product and get spied on and still put up with so much shit that they would be double better off by switching to something open
If it was open source then it still is. You simply clone the sources to a new project and continue
Yeah, WhatsApp is amlove hate relationship for me.
It’s seriously the best app out there, it just works, works nice and intuitive, has a web version (holy crap can’t go without) and almost everyone is on there.
I’d love a Foss federated solution, but good luck with that if no one uses it
Awesome!
