The entire attitude is shit. Could just contact the developers as outlined, instead of being a prude about it for some clout.

What a dick that guy is.
Asking for loads of personal information on sign up and then when I requested deletion, they requested even more. This was like 7 years ago, maybe they changed or got called out. Either way, I’ll never use them again.
My OVH experience was fucking awful, I wouldnt go anywhere near them. Big data collection scheme. Even the big 3 want less from you to spin up a machine or delete an account.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•RIP Discord: Self-Hosted Discord Alternatives Tested (TeamSpeak, Stoat, Fluxer, Matrix, & More)
2·5 months agoThey have acknowledged the offline messaging part. It does work in group chats and has E2EE there, but I think it’s something they are going to look into for servers. It’s closed source, so we are at the mercy of their few developers and cannot help. While I do trust them more than Discord, I would rather have an open solution, like Stoat/Fluxer, take off instead.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•big list of selfhosted chat apps to meet all your friends on a real "server"

Fuck AI, but a respectable stance.
And then you have the ShareX developer, using a screenshot of an AI response to respond to a GitHub issue.
A popular but unofficial Android app by “catfriend” was weirdly taken over by someone with no credentials. So everyone lost trust in it and the new maintainer was very sketchy in their responses to concerns.
There’s no controversy with the official project.

The downside is some shitty far-right service is now getting free publicity.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Is it a good idea to purchase refurbished HDDs off Amazon ?
2·2 years agoBut Amazon will just replace them for free without any trouble, which is why I tend to go to Amazon for sensitive hardware, for the peace of mind.
The last time I purchased something from another electronics store, it was faulty and they tried their absolute hardest to refuse to take it back and then still wanted me to pay for a courier to return it - congratulations, you lost a customer.

86·2 years ago‘They’ has always existed in the English language as plural or singular, context dependent. Hence it’s natural transition into a pronoun. Non-native English speakers can be excused for using gendered pronouns because the problem isn’t them not knowing and using it in the first place, it’s them refusing to update the language after a reasonable explanation to do so.
People are brigading, sure, but it’s such a simple change to make, one that only helps the world. So, yeah, fuck the devs honestly. Just accept the PR and move on, there was no need for any of this.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•What's the best open source GUI to compress videos on linux?
2·2 years agoI’m not a developer. Just explaining why projects keep within their scope and don’t bloat their software with features, which in turn take more effort to maintain.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•What's the best open source GUI to compress videos on linux?
13·2 years agoThey have their scope. It’s a video transcoder. Programs are better suited to doing their job well rather than stretching themselves thin with loads of features.

If you replaced Forgejo with GitHub then I would understand, but Forgejo isn’t a massive organization with hundreds of hired employees, it’s run by people in their spare time with the option of donations.
Anyone can help contribute, instead of doing that, this guy decided to try and get some clout by being an asshole because he is butthurt about some other interaction. If this guy went about it the proper way and then still got no answer or fix after months, then I would understand more, but he didn’t.
