8·8 months agoSame here. I have no complaints about the service and it’s easy for my tech illiterate family and friends, but I’ll switch as soon as they try to charge pass owners for new features.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•VOID just passed 100 stars on GitHub in less than a week! Thank you very much for all of your support!
4·9 months agoThis looks AWESOME! As an ADHD squirrel, I’m super excited about this. I have zero programming skill, but I’ll happily test the hell out of it.

32·1 year ago@MaggiWuerze@feddit.org nailed it. Jellyfin has security issues. It’s better than it used to be, but it’s still bad.

143·1 year agoI LOVE Jellyfin but can only imagine the amount of work I’d have to do if I tried to get my parents and in-laws successfully using it. We all just split the cost of lifetime Plex pass the last time it was on sale.
That’s how we felt! Who could make it through multiple Masters degrees and advanced certifications without even basic computer skills? I’d say it’s a one in a million chance and we found them.
I recently had a coworker who was unable to understand how to use Google or other search engines. She may have been the stupidest person I’ve ever met and was the living embodiment of the fact that one can be highly educated yet still incredibly stupid.

100% right on for me. It took me years, YEARS, to get my mother to where she would check if USB peripherals were plugged in before asking me to come over and find out why it was broken. Even the occasional slight complications with Plex get her to where she doesn’t use it for months unless I fix it for her. Jellyfin just ain’t happening with her.
