I can’t recommend Purelymail enough. Cheap (10€ per year), and you can have as many accounts and inbox space as you. You can also connect as many domains as you want.

Matrix works perfectly for me, if you’re setting up a new server, I’d go with tuwunel. I’m stuck on synapse, when the tuwunel team makes a way to migrate, I’ll do it.

Which features would you like to see in Lemvotes?
I have no idea at all how to make a browser extension, I can try I guess but that’s of lower priority, as I will try to have it use activitypub directly.
Oh, yeah I haven’t added support for entering URLs from stuff that isn’t Lemmy. I will try to add it though, thanks for pointing this out!
Thanks for the heads up, will fix it asap
Which URL did you use?

22·1 year agoActually I found traefik rather easy, I just had to make the proper docker labels and config.
PITA
Unrelated, I’m going to sound like a grammar nazi here, but holy shit there are so many acronmys, how am I supposed to know every one of them without googling? Please just say “traefik is a pain in the ass”. Also please don’t take this as a snarky reply.

5·1 year agoYeah I’ll stick with Traefik, I know how to use it
Get a domain and set up a provider with custom domains such as Purelymail

I set a friend as an emergency contact for my Bitwarden vault, so he can request access, and if I don’t deny it within 2 weeks he’s granted access.
I’m also working on a kind of digital dead man switch. Basically, I’ll make it so that you give it some last messages, which are assigned to groups of recipients. The service will send you an email at a specified interval (for example, every month) with a link in it. If you don’t click on the email a few times, you’re marked as dead and the last messages get sent out to their corresponding recipients.
