  • So funny story. My stove is currently inoperable because the door lock on the oven is fucked up somehow. Why an oven needs a door lock and why the door lock being fucked should prevent the whole thing from working I cannot tell you. I’ve literally never used it. Thanks whoever programmed that…

  • I would argue that is the point of having an FAQ/Examples in your documentation. Ideally someone would stop their first before asking clarification questions in the discord. Admittedly a lot of people are just going to go straight to asking questions but personally that’s not really been something I’ve ever really minded. Some people just learn better that way and it’s unusual for one of these discord channels to be so busy that repeat questions are drowning others out.

  • The closest one I’ve found to what I’m looking for in a note taking app is Obsidian. Really it kind of set the standard of what I need with how efficient it is to use. The only issue is syncing to my phone and tablet. I’m using Nextcloud and so far have only been able to get “read” access on my mobile devices. If I try to create/edit a note it gives me access errors that I haven’t found a way around. This isn’t a huge problem because I mostly reference notes on the devices anyway and am not making changes to them. Mobile note taking is typically done in my physical pocket notebook anyway.

  • Yea, it is one of the worst things I’ve ever had to use and I had to use it a lot. It wasn’t even supported by our IT team. Somehow HR went around them to implement it themselves. Which made it even worse because there were a shitload of problems at the start that any tier 1 help desk agent could have told them would happen if they’d bothered to ask for help.

  • A lot depends on the implementation and how well the devs that worked on your instance did their job. Some stuff they built into ours works great and I appreciate those things. A lot of it is really half assed, inconsistent with other parts, and people who process things are nitpicky as fuck about actually doing it if you didn’t submit it just right (and they didn’t bother to validate inputs to make sure you do). Overall it’s slow and bloated AF when I’m trying to run reports which is mostly what I use it for.

  • Please don’t think I’m disparaging your wife here but in my experience saying “they should just be able to …” Has never been followed by the intended person “just being able to…”. Even people I thought were very intelligent/tech savvy. It may be worthwhile to run through the procedure with her a few times if shes not already familiar with it.
