only if you are a first world dev that can shell out (good) used car money for an overpriced laptop. i bet you could get that in that overall performance ballpark for much cheaper.
this except for the macbook. experienced computer people know better.
think a dirt cheap used latitude or a thinkpad. or a black box desktop.
and we do it at work because it makes things easier in the long run!

this is the correct attitude against these bastards.
1·19 days agoits hard to define, each software you run has specific finegling to run well.
but a good starting point is RTFM in its entirety, properly organizing things and setting up good repeatability.
in case of a disaster, well, good disaster recovery and practical backups are nice too, to minimize maintenance when it shoves itself into your routine suddenly.
its not that hard to maintain though if it has been properly set up.
i’m late to the realization you can’t neglect having a better job to dangle over their heads at every moment even if the current job looks decent and you want to stay.
