minus-squareOliver Lowe@lemmy.sdf.orglinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·1 year agoMaybe a silly question: any ideas why there are shorter routes using IPv6?
minus-squareredcalcium@c.calciumlabs.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·1 year ago Fewer hops usually required when using IPv6, which means shorter latency. Simplified header means less processing time needed to process IPv6 packets, which might improve latency on each hop. It also supports multicast, but I’m not sure if it can be used to improve routing and latency.
